Accelerated economic upturn in Asia has helped ensure 2007
to be a year of opportunities and fast developments in the
banking and finance sector. Similarly, this will be an exciting
year for the Institute - lots of programs started in 2006
will continue to expand and develop, and many new initiatives
are already underway to strengthen our authoritative position
in setting and developing the professional standard for
our industry in the Mainland and Hong Kong.
Major programs and achievements in 2006 that have driven
industry-wide recognition and support include:
CFMPTM Program
- First-ever financial planning program in Hong Kong
incorporating both banking and China elements, now widely
recognized by leading banks in Hong Kong, Macau and the
Mainland
Associateship Examination Program
- “Treasury Markets Certificate” program
launched jointly with Treasury Market Associations (TMA)
to set the industry standard for treasury practitioners
The first HKIB Outstanding Financial Planner
Awards
- The HKIB Outstanding Financial Planner Awards launched
with great success to promote financial planning excellence
and raise industry standard
MoC with CBA
- Memorandum of Co-operation (MoC) with China Banking
Association (CBA) which focuses on cross-boundary training
for banking and financial practitioners and mutual recognition,
marked another milestone in building our Mainland platform.
In 2007, we will continue our commitment
to nurture future professional bankers, build the China
platform, strengthen partnership programs as well as expand
Members’ benefit offerings. Exciting initiatives include:
- Expanding HKIB Outstanding Financial Planner Awards
2007 into an annual event to continuously promote industry
excellence and knowledge transfer between Hong Kong and
the Mainland
- Articulating Associatship Examination to Master programs
with both local and overseas universities to enhance further
development of our AHKIBs and expand international recognition
- Forming strategic alliance with associate partners
and professional bodies to launch industry conference/forum/symposium
to maintain closer ties with the banking industry in the
Mainland
All these initiatives and developments will
not be possible and successful without your support and
active participation. I look forward to seeing you in our
