Certified Private Wealth Professional (CPWP) Bridging Programme

Overview

Enhanced Competency Framework on Private Wealth Management (ECF-PWM) and Enhanced Competency Framework on Retail Wealth Management (ECF-RWM) are two ECF streams launched in 2014 and 2018 respectively.  Aiming at nurturing the talents and expanding talent pool for private wealth management industry, as well as to provide career advancement opportunities for retail wealth management professional, The Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) has developed the Certified Private Wealth Professional (CPWP) Bridging Programme jointly with the Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute (HKSI Institute).  With such bridging programme, it will surely help to accelerate the learning process for the professionals in Retail Wealth Management to pursue the processional qualification as the Certified Private Wealth Professional (CPWP). Target Audience

The CPWP Bridging Programme is especially tailored for the individuals who have successfully completed the ECF-RWM Programme for Module 1 to Module 7 or grandfathered as Certified Retail Wealth Professional (CRWP), to provide an alternative pathway for them to further advance towards ECF-PWM and to pursue the qualification of CPWP.

Entry Requirement

• Successfully completed the training and examination, or via exemption of Enhanced Competency Framework on Retail Wealth Management (ECF-RWM) Module 1 to Module 7; or
• Grandfathered with professional qualification of Certified Retail Wealth Professional (CRWP)

Withdrawal will be arranged for applicants who DO NOT fulfil any of the above prerequisites (Withdrawal administration fee of HK$500 will be charged by the HKSI Institute)

Training and Examination Highlights

Individuals are required to complete all two training modules before sitting the post-training examination.

• No remedial and rescheduling arrangement for absence from Module 2 training session and/or post-training examination. All fees paid are non-transferrable and non-refundable. However, subject to the discretion from both HKIB and HKSI Institute on a case-by-case basis, candidates absenting with reasonable ground and valid proof of absent (e.g. medical certificate) may be allowed to attend the Module 2 training session and/or post-training examination in the next cohort.
• Individuals who fail the examination are allowed to reattempt the examination with a fee of HK$2,400. Training is not required for the reattempt within 3 years (counting from the date of his/her first examination).

Award

A certificate of completion for the CPWP Bridging Programme will be jointly awarded by the HKSI Institute and HKIB to the individuals who completed the two training modules and passed the post-training examination. The certificate holder is equivalent to passing the examinations of CPWP Module 1 (Paper 1) and Module 2 Examinations.

How to become a Certified Private Wealth Professional (CPWP) / CPWP Associate (CPWPA)

*Candidates who have completed the CPWP Bridging Programme will also need to fulfil the following requirements before they are awarded the CPWP Certification by the PWMA: (further details please refer the PWMA website):

• Complete the CPWP Module 1 Paper 2 Examination conducted by the HKSI Institute; and
• Currently employed by a PWMA member institution with at least 3 years of work experience performing the prescribed functions and roles of a Relevant Practitioner within a private wealth management institution in the most recent 5 years (Individuals who are not employed by a PWMA member institution and/or have not met the experience requirement are eligible to apply for CPWPA certification).

The certificate of completion for the CPWP Bridging Programme is valid for 5 years (counting from the date of the post-training examination) for the purpose of applying for CPWP certification. For details on the requirement for CPWP Certification, please refer to the PWMA website.
